infra-Legalities presentation at the University of Trento

On 23 March 2021 Gavin Sullivan delivered a lecture to the School of International Studies (SIS) at the University of Trento Italy. The talk – entitled infra-Legalities and global security: Thinking law and infrastructures together – presented some of the early conceptual foundations of the research project.
Diverse empirical examples were discussed – from data fusion centres in Tunisia, transnational data sharing between North African states and the USA to the use of watchlists and algorithmic risk screening tools in the EU – prompting an engaged debate in the Q & A afterwards about the advantages of studying security governance through data infrastructures. The lecture and debate was chaired by Dr. Georgios Glouftsios, Assistant Professor at the University of Trento.
